Regional Acceptance Corporation was founded in Greenville, North Carolina, in 1978 by two local businessmen.
At that time, the company specialized in the financing of preowned automobiles for
consumers who typically had limited access to other sources of consumer credit.
Regional grew dramatically over the years from the original branch offices to 17 by 1995.
The bulk of our business was generated through commercial
arrangements with automobile dealerships.
In September, 1996, Regional was acquired by BB&T Corporation, a financial holding company with assets in
excess of $110 billion, headquartered in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Maintaining our headquarters in Greenville, NC, Regional Acceptance Corporation continues to operate as a
freestanding affiliate of BB&T. We continue an aggressive growth plan and have business operations in six regions and
approximately 25 branch offices in fourteen US states: Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois,
Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, and Virginia.
We also cover the states of: Alabama, Kansas, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pensylvania, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Our growth plan calls for additional branch offices in our existing regions and new territories as
warranted by business conditions and expansion opportunities.
